My plan was to take advantage of the “Worry-Free Guarantee” Verizon offers. At the time I bought it, I said I’d give it a chance to replace my iPhone but I really only gave it a 1% chance. After spending a weekend with the device I now feel like there’s a 10-to-15% chance.

The Android OS has a lot of rough spots. So many, in fact, I’ve boxed up the phone twice this weekend and told myself the experiment was over. But there are also some really cool features to the OS that are far superior to anything the iPhone has to offer. And those features keep me hanging on.

I guess the only thing I can do now is give it a real go for a full week. I am going to use it as my primary phone and put the iPhone in airplane mode with Wi-Fi on for those few games and activities I enjoy on the iPhone OS that are not available on Android. It’s a test to see if I enjoy using the Droid as my main communications device while carrying around an iPod Touch for all of those other entertainment activities I’ve come to enjoy. My iPhone will play the part of iPod Touch. If I don’t mind carrying both things around then I’ll make the switch. But if I find carrying 2 devices around to be a hassle, I’ll likely take the Droid back.

I have to give Motorola credit. I thought that company had 2 feet in the grave. This device is sharp. And Android 2.0 is pretty good. Can they pull me away from the iPhone and AT&T? I don’t know. But they’re good enough to make me actually want to give it a real chance. And that’s saying a lot.

Copyright Treaty Leaked, Trouble Ahead for Users

Copyright Treaty Leaked, Trouble Ahead for Users:
If this doesn’t make you seething angry, something is wrong with you.

The Rise & Fall of The Nintendo Wii
        :
But the shallow, short-lived novelty of the few good Wii games is the truly fatal flaw. As this article states, it was a fad — and it ages as poorly as one.

The easiest piece of hardware to remove from my entertainment center when I wanted to simplify was my Wii. My plan is to trade it in at a game shop for credit toward new Xbox gear. Looks like I better do it quickly before there’s a video-console equivalent to a run-on-the-bank.

Memo Reveals Tragic Details Of Stuck Pedal Lexus Crash

Memo Reveals Tragic Details Of Stuck Pedal Lexus Crash:
So many accidents could be prevented if the driver could just stay calm. You were all so supportive. I was laid off. Then reality set in. And I finally figured out what was wrong.

The next 7 months would be some of the most difficult times I’ve endured. The economy was in the toilet, the job market was terrible, my marriage was stressed to the limits, and money was quickly evaporating. I made poor choices during that time which only added to the overall misery. It was like death by a thousand little cuts.

Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up again. And that’s what has happened in the last 5 months. I picked myself up, dusted myself off, looked in the mirror and decided to work on aspects of me that weren’t working right before. A complete turn around from what I was dealing with last year. Instead of fear and despair I am hopeful and optimistic.

What a difference a year makes. It’s a reminder that no matter how dark things become there’s always hope for a better tomorrow.

When Hollywood Doesn't Understand What I Do

The Office season 5 episode 8:

This exchange makes my brain explode.
Look at this flippin’ mess. Where are you supposed to look? Where do your eyes go? Because of my Flash blocker, half the site is obscured. The other half of the site are ads. And there’s an important red box. After that, it gets messy.

Daring Fireball: Pound the Quality

Daring Fireball: Pound the Quality:

Let’s say that when the dust starts to settle in this market, Android winds up with far fewer total apps than iPhone OS, but they’re of generally higher quality. That would make Android the Mac to the iPhone’s Windows. I would switch to that platform.

I agree with this sentiment 100%. However, if the Twitter apps for Android or the Palm Pre are any indication, the iPhone applications are as polished as the applications I have come to love on the Mac.
